Mindil Beach visitors urged to share their photos with #NTAustralia

Posted: 28 August 2015

Giant helium balloons will promote the famous Mindil Beach Markets and encourage locals and visitors to become ambassadors for Northern Territory tourism on social media as part of a two-week Tourism NT campaign.

Visitors to the Mindil Beach Markets are urged to use Tourism NT’s official hashtag - #NTAustralia on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.

The best photos will be shared across Tourism NT’s social media accounts. It is hoped this new promotion will encourage locals and visitors to use the hashtag more regularly while on the ground experiencing the Northern Territory.

The new promotion comes on the back of the new It’s About Time…Do The NT campaign, which is running across the country to encourage Australians to book a holiday to the Northern Territory before it’s too late.

The #NTAustralia display will be at the Darwin High School end of the Mindil Beach Markets from 5-7pm until Thursday 10 September.

Open Day: Parliament House, Government House and Supreme Court

Posted: 20 August 2015

The Supreme Court, Government House and Parliament House invite members of the public to attend an Open Day on Saturday 22 August. Darwin is fortunate to have these three beautiful buildings – two modern and one historical - within walking distance of one another.

The Supreme Court will be open from 9am-3pm. The event schedule includes a mock trial, informative and historical displays, guided tours of the building, the court rooms, holding cells and art work housed within the Court. A ‘back of house’ talk will interest architecture enthusiasts, looking at the planning, design and construction of the Supreme Court.

From 2-6pm, you are welcome to join the Administrator at Government House for a stroll through the 1.3 hectare tropical gardens, accompanied by the resident horticulturalists. Live music, a sausage sizzle and Devonshire tea is also on offer. Don’t miss this opportunity to bask in the charm of the Territory’s oldest European house.

The Speaker of the Legislative Assembly invites guests to attend the Parliament House Open Day from 9am-3pm for a Chamber chat on the Three Arms of Government. Tours of Parliament House are offered as well as a special tour on the construction of State Square.
